Suggested Lodge Activities for American Education Week
November 13-17, 2017

MWGM Scott A. Thomas has issued Edict No. 2017-01 declaring November 13-17, 2017 as American Education Week in support of our Public Schools. All Lodges are to observe the spirit of this Edict by participating and /or supporting our Public Schools.

Below is a list of suggested activities to assist you.  

  • Contact your Public School(s) and inquire how you might be able to assist or support the School especially during American Education Week.
  • Ask about any requirements they may have for volunteers to assist in school activities.
  • Present the Grand Lodge Public Schools Essay Contest and Classroom Grant Program
  • Host local awards for Essay contest winners
  • Recognize outstanding Teachers or Administrators
  • Volunteer to assist as playground or cafeteria monitors or wherever the school needs help
  • Provide doughnuts or breakfast snacks for the Teachers and Office Staff
  • Host an Ice Cream Social or other events at the school after classes are dismissed
  • Offer help with funding or special projects
  • Use Social Media to show your support and appreciation of Teachers, Administrators, Para Professionals and Office, Transportation and Maintenance Staff in our Public Schools
  • Issue a press release to the local media announcing our support for Public Schools
  • Approach City or Town officials and offer to assist them with proclaiming American Education Week in support of our Public Schools
